May 2013 will go down in the books as one of the most exciting, crazy, exhausting, emotional, fun, challenging months of my life. We brought home a baby, said good-bye to family, and started the journey of being a family of four. FOUR! There has not been one dull moment since our little Conrad Cross arrived on April 28th.
(I'm going to post some dates so that I can remember when these were taken.)
Gwendolyn adores her baby brother. Conrad at only 4 days old and mommy running on complete adrenaline and love.
Hangin' with Grammy. My mom was incredible help!
Now hangin' with Grandpa.
I'm not sure why, but she gathers all of her things after she wakes up and is waiting for someone to come get her. Always the collector!
Meeting Auntie Natalie for the first time - May 2nd.
After his doctor's appointment...I think we were both relieved it was over!
Taken the morning of May 4th - 7 days old!
I know I'll look back on these pictures and think - we slept with diapers and wipes and giant pillows in our bed for how long?! And this is how we still look most mornings. Except he's outgrown that sleeper and I don't smile that easily so bright and early anymore *smile.
Wearing as many of his newborn outfits while he can still fit in them. They're all adorable hand me downs, so it was perfect that the temps cooled off so he could wear his cozy velour pants!
Sunday, May 5th - Conrad is one week old and went to church for the first time. John Piper spoke that Sunday and it was so great. Do you know John Piper? If not, he's an amazing man and author and I'm sure all of his books are life changing. Tom and I both love the Desiring God blog - would highly recommend it!
It was so great to hear him preach, but also quite incredible to have him pray over our newborn son and family afterwards. Goosebumps!
Meeting Mimi and Papa for the first time at one week old. Also the last time we were in Eden Prairie before Greg, Natalie and family moved back to Ohio. Boohoohoo.
Watch out for those muscles....
A man with his son...
I adore this picture. Tom took it without my knowing before he left for work when Conrad was a week and one day old, and I'm so glad it's captured forever. Those first days were so sweet and he and I are still pretty inseparable. I still love how he snuggles right up in my neck. Pretty sure I'd never get sick of it!
Off we go to Hastings for a play date with cousin, Natron and to see Aunt Nikki!
After my parents headed home, Mimi and Papa arrived to help out the troops. What a blessing it was to have help for two weeks!
I still can't keep my hands off his feet while he's nursing. His skin is so soft.
They were so tiny!
More sleepy smiles on May 9th - 12 days old.
Meeting Uncle Greg for the first time and walks around the pond with Natalie and Lukey Do (wearing Gwendolyn's warm ups - NBD) before they flew off on a jet plane for Ohio a few days behind the rest of the fam.
My boy...14 days old.
Apparently Gwendolyn didn't think one hat was enough...
Mother's Day - May 12th.
Conrad's first mail! So cool to see his name in print. He's a real person with a SS# now!
My fabulous friend Kirsten came to visit on May 13th. She's due at the beginning of August with a little girl. I'm so excited for her and can't wait to see her as a mom. She's incredibly sweet and so genuine. So thankful our paths crossed when I first moved up here in 2006!
Everyone is a bit sleepy around here....
Attempting a sibling shot. For a second time. Thankfully we had success!
Key to taking pictures of a 2 year old - catch her on a good day!
Working outside with daddy..
Wednesday, May 15th....my first day with no help, although Tom reminded me that it doesn't really count as my first day on my own since Erin stopped by for most of the afternoon. Ha. Whatever.
We were up and dressed and fed and home from Target by 10:15. I was pretty proud of myself!
I could just eat him up when he's wearing a polo and plaid shorts.
We all survived our first (but not really) day at home alone!
All relaxed and sleepy after a sponge bath...
Sibling tummy time.
Sometimes it's hard to get work done with my 3 week old sidekick being so demanding.
Play date at Ceci's house with the girls and boys!
The Rock N Play has changed our lives! The view from my bed on May 24th.
Gwendolyn randomly started waking up really early some mornings so we do what any parents just trying to survive do...we bring her into our bed! Yes, not a good habit, but I like to take one day at a time and treasure her while she's small. Even if she does take up way more than her fair share of space.
Oh, Leo Peo...you were a loyal pet for seven years.
Family road trip down to Charles City for Memorial Day!
Fun with cousins in CC...
I love that my daughter loves animals as much as I do. That poor farm kitty being passed between two two-year-old's! Bless her heart!
Does it ever get old holding a newborn?!
Not according to Grandma and Grandpa!
Or sissy.....
Watching the Bachelorette premier with "TrishyJohn" of course.
Well kind of...hard to watch with a two year old constantly up in your business, right Trisha? *smile
May 28th - four weeks old!
I think it's safe to say that Conrad Cross is thriving....
Story time in our bed.
She asks to hold him and runs and gets the pillow all the time. It was later at night so I had to use my flash, which always makes Gwendolyn close her eyes. Just love this pic though...look at him! Look at them!
More bedtime stories on May 30th. You learn how to multi-task really quickly when you have two kiddos!
My mom said Conrad had lost his newborn look, which I didn't believe until I saw the difference in pictures. Ok, I finally admit he looks more like a baby now and less like a newborn.
I will not cry. I will not cry.
May 1st compared to May 30th....
What a month! And here we are at June 21st already...I have such great motivation and intentions every single morning and then before you know it, it's 5 pm and I have only accomplished one or two things on my ever growing to do list. One day at a time though and always trying to rest in the comfort that there are only a few things that are of true and lasting value - if I accomplish those things during the day, then I'm right where God wants me. Feeding my soul changes everything!
Happy Friday friends!
