Gettin' my second Stitch Fix!

Look what arrived in the mail yesterday!!

My second Stitch Fix!

I was so pumped to open the box and take a look inside. One of my favorite bloggers, Raechel from Finding My Feet, got me interested in this fun little surprise adventurous way of shopping. (She had an adorable post with some of her favorite recent fixes here.) You fill out a survey of your clothing preferences and let them know what styles you like and dislike (they provide pictures of outfits so it's nice and easy to say yay or nay.)

I made some updates to my profile now that I'm no longer working outside of the home and stressed how I really want cute but comfy and practical. Nothing too tight (just had a baby) and like things longer. Would be fun to get some things that I could wear with leggings in the fall/winter.

No dresses.
No jewelry.
No pants.
No crazy prints.

Once you share with them what you like/don't like, you wait by your front door for your box to arrive! And then you scream softly when the FedEx man rings your doorbell with your package. I was so giddy yesterday!

You may remember my not so successful first fix from over a year ago. It was fun enough to try again. So that's exactly what I did!

They listen and take into consideration what you share, and then send you five different varying pieces each with a tag with pictures of two completely coordinating outfits and ways to wear that one item (so helpful when I literally have no clue.)
At first glance...feelin' pretty good. No orange or animal print in sight, at least.

You ready?!

Fix  #1:
A very soft and light colored Bella Dahl denim hi-lo button up.

Actually the same top Raechel got, but much cuter on her. Definitely too big (it's a medium?), but I see the potential. I tried following the suggestions they gave on the tag - fun scarf (I only own one that I actually use for photo shoots and have never worn), bright earrings, jeans and wedges (don't own and am hesitant to buy b/c so uncomfortable.)

Get it..hi - lo?

They say it's very trendy for the season and can be worn with a printed skirt and bright flats. Or jeans for a night out with the girls.

*smile

Stitch #2:
Jojo striped floral print cotton tank

Apparently the perfect way to subtly try out the mixed-print trend. They suggested pairing with a pastel cardigan (turquoise in the pic, which I loved.)

I like it and found the little shoulder detail cute, but it was quite boxy (if worn alone) and I couldn't go down a size b/c it fit perfectly across the shoulders. It was pretty tent-like. And we don't want to look like a tent.

Fix #3:
Josse foldover waist maxi skirt

Ohhhhh shoot. I try so hard you guys, I really do. (Please remember I am not into fashion unless it involves solid colored tank tops and wide-waisted yoga pants/capris.) I again followed the picture, which they showed paired with a soft colored tank top, teal statement necklace, a light blue clutch (ha) and little cute sandals.

My feelings weren't even hurt when Tom told me I looked like an Amish woman. I love the Amish, but that's not the look I'm going for.

Also too big. (My fault, I told them I am a large on the bottom.)

If I were taller, then I think I can see how something like this would be an everyday staple. Easy and comfy.

Fix #4:
Koa striped 3/4 sleeve v-neck shirt

Opened this one up and LOVED it. It has so much of what I am looking for...colors, longer, looser fitting, fun detail, etc. I am also a huge fan of 3/4 sleeves.

They suggest white pants in the warmer months and then dark jeans and booties (what are booties? I kid, I kid. But seriously) once the weather turns chilly. According to Stitch Fix, the options are endless.

Endless you guys.

Not sure my white pants are what they had in mind, but that's something I can update. They also showed it with a coral scarf. Super cute.

Only bummer - most expensive item. Like....pushing $70. And it's hand wash.
(I know, I know mom...)

Fix #5:
Celler Open Front Drape Cardigan

I knew as soon as I held it up that it was a complete winner. Love it. Addie (my stylist) nailed it.

Adorable elastic back creates a flattering figure (yes, please) and the draped front gives an effortlessly chic vibe. (Their words.) They paired it with boyfriend jeans, a striped t and flats and then with darker jeans, a turquoise tank, brown booties (that word again) and a pretty necklace. Both doable. No leather or zebra print skirt involved like two other recommendations.

It even has pockets!
And 3/4 sleeves again!

(Oh you bet she was in just a diaper.)

All in all, this was SO much fun and I think they did a much better job. Addie really listened to my comments about what I liked and didn't like. I think I know what I'm keeping and returning (they make the process really easy) but I'd love to hear any input. I only have two more days to decide!!

I had a blast with my kiddos yesterday, but getting my fix in the mail was just icing on the cake. What a fun mid-week treat. I think you should try it!!

Take a look here. And if you do, send me pics! I love this stuff.

Ok, let me know what you think!

The links in this post are referral links. So if you loved this and wanted to give it a try, I would get a Stitch Fix credit. All fun and no pressure!

  1. #2 is my favorite! I don't think you look like a tent. Pair of leggings and boots this fall. Ca-ute! :)

  2. I actually like number one.....you can have fun purchasing another fun scarf....and it's longer in the back...to go with leggings. I just purchased a pair of leggins at Marshalls....They have 2 brands in black...DKNY (with a bit of faux leather...but not abnoxious) for $34.99.....but they also have a brand "Philosophy" for $24.99....just as cute. I also saw some in gray. You have to keep going back to Marshalls to find your side....but the "find" is worth the effort!!!! And Sarah....I love the last picture of you and Gwendolyn!!!! Thanks for posting this....your comments and your pictures make me laugh....in a good way!!!!! Kathy Stowik
