2011 Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Tom's brother's house in Eden Prairie this year. It was nice to not travel (other than driving back and forth everyday), b/c typically it's either flying to Ohio or driving down to Charles City. Per usual, the food was fabulous as was the company.

Get ready to learn a new game over  Christmas, Sinclair family! Trisha and John introduced us to "Salad Bowl". Very fun. But the girls got demolished. It's fine.

In other big news, Trisha asked both me and Natalie to be her Matrons of Honor. Now that's an honor! We went dress shopping on Saturday so to start off the exciting day, she brought us three (Natalie, Pam and me) a delicious drink from Caribou Coffee - so sweet! And then she gave us beautiful cards to ask us to stand beside her as she takes John as her groom on September 1st, 2012.

I DO!

And side note, if you like cheese that dark brown colored one next to the salami is Ghetost, a Norwegian dessert cheese. It tastes similar to mild cheddar with hints of caramel and peanut butter (seriously!) and was absolutely fabulous with apples and crackers, in my opinion.

The Barntsen fam is BIG on BIG surprises, so imagine our surprise when Greg and Natalie suddenly whipped out a gender reveal cake with the gender of their sweet baby inside! Here we all thought her ultra sound was the following Tuesday and they'd find out boy/girl then. Stinkers!

Just moments before we had all been guessing (most everyone said "boy") and then we suggested they have a reveal party after they find out and Natalie said, "want to have one now?!"

Sure enough, BOY!

I had never experienced a gender reveal like this, but I'd always wanted to. It's so fun with so much anticipation as you stand there with your eyes closed - sweating and heart racing - while they cut into the cake. And then you open your eyes and see the results and you scream and jump and laugh and hug.  So great! I love surprises! And of course we're so thankful for a healthy babe, who Grant wants to name Jack *smile. Brooke originally was not so happy about the news of a baby brother. She really wanted a "dirl." She's excited now, but wasn't so sure at first. Bless her heart. Grant told her she should have prayed harder.

Gotta love the holidays!

Hope you have a blessed Friday!
