Independence Day

We spent the 4th of July here in the cities this year. It was Tom's birthday on the 3rd (one year away from 30!) and I think both of us were kind of relieved to not have to travel. At least not too far. We ended up spending the 4th at Greg and Natalie's in Eden Prairie, which was fun. (They think they're moving back to Cincinnati next summer, but we'll see about that.)

We stayed the night, which was nice. Except Gwendolyn decided she didn't want to sleep in her pack n play and ended up in bed with us. Sleeping with her this time was not as fun and exciting as it was when we went camping. She never stops moving. Like, literally, she'd sit up and then flop over. I woke up every single time. I've never been kicked and headbutted so many times in my life.  Thankfully the room we were in was in the basement with no windows so we slept until 8 am without even knowing it. So nice. At least the girl likes to sleep in. She gets that from her daddy.

Aunt Natalie gave Gwendolyn her first ice cream cone while daddy was at a movie with the boys. This was her face when we decided to take the messy treats outside on the deck and I had to steal her cone away for a few minutes.
Cousins eating ice cream cones.
Messy baby.
We always find her carrying around random things she finds in the house. This time she was playing with a cup, a soft ball (hidden in the cup), a granola bar wrapper, and a coloring book. Happy as a clam.
Giving baby Luke a bottle.
Happy 4th of July!
It was HOT so we spent most of our time inside except for a few runs through the sprinkler and a small water balloon "fight."
Shark attack!
Ok, this was adorable. She loves Luke and when we put him beside her, she just sat there cautiously and didn't move. So precious.
Head tilt.
Giving the baby a kiss.
She decided she would like to hold him after all. Hilarious.
It wouldn't be time at Drexel Court without a little dance party.

It was tough going back to work after being off for six days. Ha. Tom and I both took Monday the 2nd off to hang out and celebrate his birthday and get stuff done at home (Scooty still went to daycare.) Let me tell you, I love my daughter to death but that was so nice. We went out for coffee, went mountain biking, got massages and worked on organizing some business stuff that was just cluttering up our desk. It was like an 8 hour date. So great!
