I'm 30 weeks old, which means I'll be 7 months old on Sunday! Mommy still gets very sad that I'm growing big so fast, but I promise her I'll love her forever and never push her away or be naughty. Ever.
• I came home from Miss Kathy's house on Tuesday wearing her son's old baby bunting. It is very warm for when we go outside to play. I liked it so much I napped in when I got home and didn't want to take it off for my pictures.
• Daddy's anniversary surprise to mommy was so.much.fun! First we - well, everyone but me - had coffee and a cinnamon and sugar popover at a quaint little coffee shop. Then we went hiking at Taylor's Falls and had a picnic for lunch. I loved being in the carrier and didn't make a fuss one bit. I even slept the entire 1.5 mile trek back to the car! The biggest surprise came around dinner time...daddy planned a 6-course dinner at Grecco's on The St. Croix in St. Croix Falls, WI so we stopped into a few shops to kill some time before our 5:15 dinner reservations. It was nearing my late afternoon nap time, but those parents of mine were still going to brave dinner at a nice restaurant. UNTIL, we walked around the corner and there were Aunt Trisha and "Uncle" John! They drove an hour to come watch me so mommy and daddy could enjoy a nice dinner together. We had so much fun together! Mommy cried, she was so touched and happy. I really love my family.
• Much to everyone's surprise - I pushed my second tooth through on the bottom last week. They didn't even see that one comin'! I was having my dinner one night and suddenly mommy said, "Oh. my. goodness!" and called daddy into the room. Two pearly whites on the bottom! The only warning signs were a few nights where I was up twice, so I'd say that was pretty good. Can you say "hazelwood/amber necklace"?
• Mommy took my 6 month pictures two weeks ago. She stopped when her memory card hit 500 pictures. She'll post them when she is done editing. Wish her luck!
• I pretty much have this eating of solid foods down. And "by down" I mean that it's all over my face, hands and bib but at least not in my hair or on the floor. I have eaten avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans and peas and like it all. I really try to help by guiding the spoon into my mouth with my fingers. It's messy, but fun. Just ask mommy and daddy!
• My 6 month appointment was Tuesday. I got mad because of the shots but no real tears! The doctor said I am right where I should be and doing great. I don't goo and gah like other babies, but I definitely "talk" and my parents think I am very advanced, thank you very much. Babies have different temperaments -- "the emotional and social style in which babies respond to people and events" (according to the weekly email that my mommy gets.)
I think it's safe to say that I am definitely determined (I usually keep trying until I get what I have my eye on and am not necessarily satisfied by something else unless it's really interesting) and observant (I love new places, but want to watch and take it in first.) My Mimi says my daddy was the same exact way.
I am moving healthfully along the growth chart.
Here are my stats:
Height: 26 3/4 - 75-90%
Weight: 15 lbs, 5 oz - 25-50%
Head: 17.5 - 90-95%
I'm definitely a little - tall - peanut! Who needs excessive rolls?! Not me!
• Our last day at mommy and me class was last week *tear. I'm just very busy and it's hard to get me to lay on the floor directly in front of mom for an hour and a half. I like to explore too much! Mommy learned a lot in that class and found it very comforting. She said it was like a support group, whatever that is. We first went when I was only three weeks old, and it was always something we looked forward to on Tuesdays. She hopes to still meet up with the other moms for play groups. I know we'll miss it, but on to bigger and better things - like song and music classes at the library! Do re me fah so la ti da!
Here's to being almost 7 months old!
Love,
Gwendolyn Rebecca
