I hadn't seen one of my best friends from college, Liz, since July 2009. She even had her 2nd child last August and aside from pictures and many stories, I can't believe I hadn't met her yet. We had tried to get together in December, but that didn't end up working out. So over a month ago we decided we must get together and MAY it was. Okoboji is about 2 hours for her and about 3 hours for me so we met there last weekend. Finally! I loved, loved, loved spending time with the kids even though Max (her 2.5 year old) thought my name was Erin most of the weekend. We're still best buds though. And sweet baby Anna.....talk about a perfect baby. So easy going, relaxed and content. I got lots of baby snuggles in! My favorite! And of course, it was so great to catch up with Liz and just hang out for 24 hours. We really needed about three more full days.....maybe someday we'll live in the same neighborhood *smile. (My life would be complete.

A baby photo shoot? Don't mind if I do!

A trip to Okoboji wouldn't be complete without a jaunt down to Arnold's Park. It was completely empty aside from two bikers who volunteered to take our picture. After I asked them to.
Ohhh, Max. He's something else. He is SO smart. He can count to 100, knows all of his letters - not just the order they're in in the alphabet, and knows numbers like 26 and 39 if you point to them and ask him what number it is. Oh, and Max can also spell.
Max: "E-X-I-T. Exit."
Me: "Um, did he just spell "exit?"
Liz: (laughs) "He loves spelling exit."
He also looooooves bubbles. "More bobbles, please." Over and over and over.....we had a lot of fun with his new bobbles.
He was a bit hesistant to get in the pool but once he did, he loved it. His suit was just adorable.
We also did a little shopping and both of our husbands loved our purchases (Er, not. They don't know what looks good *smile. Plaid capris are in, Tom!) It felt just like the old days when we would go to the Ames, IA mall...except we were each holding a child. I wish everyone had a Liz in their life. She is a beautiful person inside and out and has so many qualities that I strive for. It was a wonderful time!
And speaking of Ames, IA....I graduated from Iowa State 5 years ago TODAY. Where does the time go?!
